Overview

The CNC Programmer collaborates closely with manufacturing planners and CNC shop personnel to develop and maintain reliable CNC manufacturing processes that meet customer requirements and quality standards.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and creates NC programs for sheet metal products, sheet metal products related form-tooling, extrusion products, block HOGOUT products, forging and/or casting products, forging and/or casting related tooling, assembly related tooling, and 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis milling customer products.
  • Displays expertise in 4-axis horizontal machining programming with great efficiency.
  • Plans details of CNC related operation.
  • Provides accurate setup documentation.
  • Validates NC programs prior to production use by using verification software.
  • Approves and places NC programs, setup information on machine server for shop use.
  • Performs troubleshooting on CNC programming related problems.
  • Participates in troubleshooting on production related problems.
  • Upkeeps and/or maintains master files of programming.
  • Optimizes feed rate and spindle RPM to for cost affectivity.
  • Integrates improved and/or new cutting tool technology.
  • Participates in the improvement process by utilizing lean manufacturing method.
  • Proposes feasible solutions for future overall process improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in CNC programming
  • Experience with programming 3 and 4 axis parts

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledgeable in G-code
  • Must be able to read customer provided drawing
  • Ability to communicate professionally both in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience programming 5 axis parts.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use a computer and other office equipment

Working Conditions

  • This position operates in an office and manufacturing environment. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory. Employees may be exposed to moderate to high noise levels and other typical manufacturing conditions.
