Overview

Responsible for working closely with the manufacturing planner and CNC shop personnel to produce reliable CMM programs to meet customer requirements by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs and creates DMIS (CMM) programs for customer parts.
  • Designs and creates DMIS (CMM) programs for shop aid tooling.
  • Provides accurate CMM setup documentation.
  • Validates CMM programs prior to production release by using CMM program verification software.
  • Approves and places CMM programs and appropriate set-up information in CMM program for the operator to utilize.
  • Performs troubleshooting on CMM programming related problems.
  • Participates in troubleshooting on production related problems.
  • Upkeeps and/or maintains master files of programming.
  • Optimizes cycle time for cost effectiveness.
  • Integrates improved and/or new technology as it comes available to stay productive and up to date with current methodology.
  • Participates in the improvement process by utilizing lean manufacturing method.
  • Proposes feasible solutions for future overall process improvements.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in use of CAD software.

 

Equipment:

Eye and hearing protection may be necessary while working on the shop floor.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

  • Must be able to read customer provided drawing
  • Knowledgeable in CMM programming
  • Operating portable measuring equipment
  • Thorough understanding of GD&T

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a shop – office environment.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
