Overview

Summary: Responsible for working closely with manufacturing planning and CNC shop personnel to produce reliable tooling for use in meeting customer requirements by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs and creates NC programs for tooling per customer requirements.
  • Designs and creates NC programs for form tooling.
  • Designs and creates NC programs for assembly tooling.
  • Plans detail of CNC related operations for tooling components and corresponding tool assembly as needed.
  • Provides accurate setup documentation.
  • Validates NC programs for tooling prior to production use by using verification software.
  • Approves and places NC programs and setup information on machine server for shop use.
  • Performs troubleshooting on CNC programming related problems.
  • Participates in troubleshooting on production related problems that are tooling related.
  • Assists in tool assembly as needed.
  • Performs upkeep and/or maintains master files of programming.
  • Integrates improved and/or new cutting tool technology.
  • Participates in the improvement process by developing tooling to improve shop performance and quality.
  • Proposes feasible solutions for future overall tool related process improvements.

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

  • Must be able to read customer provided drawing
  • Proficient in use of CAD/CAM software
  • Knowledgeable in G-code
  • Operating portable measuring equipment
  • Thorough understanding of machining processes

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a shop – office environment.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
