Overview

The Director of Maintenance, Facilities, and EHS is a key member of the division’s senior leadership team. This role ensures safe, reliable, and compliant operation of all buildings, production equipment, utilities, and environmental systems. The division specializes in stretch forming, metal-to-metal bonding, chemical milling, phosphoric anodize, and CNC machining, and operates complex systems including chemical processing, wastewater treatment, autoclaves, and heavy-duty compressors.

This position leads site-wide maintenance and EHS programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all regulatory requirements, while building a strong safety culture and driving operational uptime, quality, and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as primary site leader for maintenance, facilities, and EHS
  • Develop and execute site strategies for asset reliability, facility integrity, and EHS performance
  • Align maintenance and EHS initiatives with operational and business goals
  • Promote a proactive safety-first culture throughout the site

Maintenance & Facilities

  • Manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production and facility systems
  • Ensure uptime of critical utilities (autoclaves, HVAC, compressors, process water, power distribution)
  • Oversee operation and compliance of wastewater treatment, chemical processing, and hazardous waste systems
  • Plan and lead equipment and facility capital projects and upgrades

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

  • Lead all site EHS programs, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations
  • Maintain environmental permits and documentation (air, water, waste, SPCC, stormwater)
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses; drive corrective actions
  • Oversee employee safety training, emergency drills, and certification compliance
  • Act as primary contact for regulatory inspections and reporting

People & Vendor Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of maintenance technicians, facilities personnel, and EHS staff
  • Build a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Manage third-party contractors and vendors, ensuring safe and compliant performance
  • Negotiate service agreements and manage contractor execution for maintenance and EHS projects

Financial & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and manage maintenance, facilities, and EHS budgets
  • Monitor spending, drive cost reduction, and justify capital expenditures
  • Use CMMS and EHS systems data to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and improve safety performance

Core Equipment Under Management:

The Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in maintaining and optimizing the facility’s primary production assets, including:

  • Phosphoric Acid Anodizing (PAA) Line
  • Chemical Milling (Chem Mill) Line
  • Large Industrial Autoclaves
  • Stretch Press Machines
  • Additional support equipment as required

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field (preferred)
  • 7+ years of progressive maintenance/facilities/EHS experience in aerospace or complex manufacturing, with 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Experience with environmental permitting, regulatory audits, and incident investigations
  • Proven success leading safety and environmental cultural change
  • ERP/MRP system experience preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with ability to shape safety culture
  • Technical expertise in industrial maintenance, chemical processing, wastewater treatment, HVAC, and compressed air systems
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state/local EHS regulations
  • Familiarity with CNC machinery and aerospace manufacturing equipment
  • Proficient in CMMS and EHS management systems, budgeting, and project management
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and change management skills

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking of production floor, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to respond to off-hours emergencies

  • TRIR and LTIR
  • Timely completion of safety training and corrective actions

Environmental

  • Zero violations and 100% on-time environmental reporting
  • Reduction of hazardous waste and energy usage

Maintenance

  • Planned maintenance completion rate
  • MTBF / MTTR and unplanned downtime percentage
  • Maintenance spend vs. budget

Leadership

  • Engagement scores, retention rates, and promotion of internal talent
