Overview

Maintains computing environment by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance.  Provides consultation, training, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving to employees. The position ensures the effective operation of all systems; installs and configures systems; recommends hardware and software acquisitions and upgrades.

This is a dynamic role that combines essential IT functions with crucial support for our facility and maintenance operations. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with a strong foundation in IT, but also a willingness to assist with other departmental needs as they arise. This role is a key part of our small, cross-functional team, and your ability to adapt and contribute beyond traditional IT duties is essential for success.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Essential Job Functions:

    1. Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
    2. Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues, including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
    3. Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
    4. Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
    5. Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
    6. Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
    7. Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
    8. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
    9. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
    10. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
    • Follow all established quality management system procedures and work instructions as applicable
    • Assist with installation, configuration and usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software
    • Provide training to employees in the use of system and applications
    • Diagnose and resolve problems associated with business systems
    • Support users with mobile devices, including configuration, training and troubleshooting
    • Perform updates and upgrades on existing hardware and software
    • Assisting other facility departments

     

    Knowledge & Skills:

    1. Experience with Cisco switches and applications.
    2. VMWare and Hyper-V virtualization skills.
    3. Microsoft 365 Services Administration. This includes administrative experience with:
    4. Exchange Online: Managing user mailboxes, email flow, and anti-spam policies.
    5. SharePoint Online: Administering site collections, permissions, and document management.
    6. Teams: Managing user access, team settings, and governance policies for collaboration.
    7. OneDrive for Business: Configuring file sync, sharing, and storage policies. ☁️
    8. Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory): Managing user identities, groups, and access controls. 
    1. Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
    2. Able to promptly answer support-related email, phone calls, and other means of communication.
    3. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized
    4. Proficient knowledge on computers and other related products
    5. Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both orally and in writing
    6. Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
    7. Ability to operate assigned equipment
    8. Good analytical and interpreting skills which are required to understand and analyze the problems
    9. Customer-focused individual with demonstrated skills in communications, consensus-building, and conflict resolution

     

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Network Administrator, ten (10) years preferred.   Providing IT support to an organization or client group.  Experience working within an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred, with demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes. Network Performance Tuning, LAN Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation, Problem Solving, Strategic Planning, Multi-tasking, Quality Focus, Coordination, Technical Understanding
