Overview

Quality Inspector performs various receiving inspections, in-process inspections, verification of completed paperwork, identifying non-conformance issues, final product inspection and checking dimensions of production detail parts and assemblies using hand tools such as calipers, scales, micrometers, and height gauge as well as operating CMM. Basic AS9102, First article skills. Inspectors should be proficient in blue print reading as well as specification interpretation and be able to apply these skills to preform first article inspection using in-house programs such as DISCUS and Net Inspect. The Inspector should be able to identify drawing revision changes as well as purchase order requirements. Basic knowledge of the requirements, maintenance, and implementation of AS9100 guidelines is required.

Responsibilities

  1. Follow all established quality management system procedures and work instructions.
  2. Ensure procedures and work instructions are followed, resolving quality related issues with internal or external customers.
  3. Perform receiving, in process, kitting, and final inspection, as required.
  4. Perform first piece inspection for mechanical assy, part mark and kitting.
  5. Generate required reports, perform verifications, tracking of data and recommendation of process improvements.
  6. Verify incoming product to ensure purchase orders and customer requirements are met.
  7. Verify assemblies meet all customer requirements.
  8. Ensure that instruments used for product acceptance are in calibration prior to use.
  9. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances per established procedures.
  10. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.
  11. Create AS9102 cert packages for FAIRs, when required.
  12. Assisting in following procedures in accordance with AS9100
  13. Create a Detailed Inspection Plan using designated software.
  14. Become a certified customer Source Delegation Representative, follow customer protocols, and access customer portals

Qualifications

  1. Three years minimum experience in inspection or aerospace manufacturing.
  2. Ability to understand customer specifications and requirements.
  3. Ability to interpret and apply national standard specifications (ie. MIL, AS, IPC, NAS, etc.)
  4. Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances as well as blue print reading.
  5. Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9102
  6. Certified on the requirements and acceptance of bonding, application of sealants and torque.
  7. Knowledge of FAI’s, DIP’s, and Net Inspect.
  8. Effective communication skills both oral and written
  9. Good organizational skills
  10. Previous experience in CMM programming and PC-DMIS Software a plus
  11. Ability to perform dimensional inspections using standard manual inspection gages (calipers, micrometers, height gages, comparators, etc.

 

Education and Experience:

 

High school graduate or equivalent, Must have 5 or more years’ work related experience.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

Stooping, crouching, reaching, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. Must have close visual acuity per procedures. May be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust.
