Tooling Inspector

The Tooling Inspector is responsible for conducting periodic tooling inspections (PTIs) to verify the accuracy and compliance of aerospace tooling. This role uses advanced metrology equipment and software, including Spatial Analyzer (SA) and PolyWorks, to ensure tooling remains precise, functional, and aligned with customer and regulatory requirements.

• Perform annual PTIs on aerospace tooling using Romer Arms, Laser Trackers, FARO arms, or equivalent CMM equipment.
• Develop and execute inspection plans in Spatial Analyzer (SA) and/or PolyWorks software.
• Review engineering drawings and models to verify tooling against specifications.
• Document inspection results, generate reports, and maintain records per AS9100 and customer requirements.
• Identify discrepancies, escalate findings, and support corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain organized inspection data, calibration certificates, and tooling records for audits.
• Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing teams to schedule and complete inspections in line with production needs.

• High school diploma or GED required; technical coursework or associate degree preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in aerospace tooling inspection or related metrology role.
• Proficient in Spatial Analyzer (SA) and/or PolyWorks software.
• Experience with Romer Arms, Laser Trackers, FARO arms, or equivalent metrology equipment.
• Strong understanding of GD&T (ANSI Y14 standards).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and inspection plans.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and organizational skills.

Other Requirements

• Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 30 pounds.
• Travel up to 10–15% may be required for vendor or off-site inspections.
